Damn guys.  2014 was insane.  So many changes, so much awkwardness and weirdness and adjustment and ugh, it was just WEIRD.  But looking back through my Instagram and seeing all those moments makes me really happy.  This year was full on crazy, but it was full of awesome stuff.  I had so much fun and Los Angeles has really started to feel like home (almost a full year later.)

Try something new this year.  It might be weird and difficult… and really hard while you're IN it - but at the end, when you look back, it was TOTALLY worth it.  And more great things tend to happen when you shake things up than not.

I'm super excited for 2015.  Especially since I don't have a major move planned and have a year in Los Angeles under my belt.  I love a new year!  It's so hopeful and exciting and almost always disappointing as the year goes on and gets completely monotonous!  But whatever.  I like getting excited about things.  I might have some resolutions, I don't know - but all in all, I would like 2015 to be a very good year?  I guess that's safe to say.

Happy New Year!

Hello!  Happy New Year!

Last night, I dyed my hair a very dark brown.  Almost black.  And I feel AWESOME!!  I had a very fun New Year's Eve.  I did shows with my friends, I had some drinks, I threw up in a sink, I wore a pretty party dress and I walked around a room and told everyone in there how great they were and how much they were my best friend in the whole world.  Which is a good kind of drunk to be.  Oh, right, I mentioned that I threw up in a sink, right?  I'm gross.

Regardless, I'm excited for a new year!  I feel creative and excited and ready to tackle some shit.  I spent the day lying in bed and watching The Cosby Show and writing down a list of things I want to do.  I like making resolutions... because even if I don't do them all, it at least sets me on the right track and puts me in a nice frame of mind... for however many seconds.  : )

Here are some ideas that I have.  There are MANY.  And I didn't want to write any big, crazy things... like "move to LA" because that shit's overwhelming.
  • Get a passport.  I don't have one.  I've never had one.  I've never needed to use one.  I don't have the money to actually use one this year.  But... I should have one.  Just in case I'm whisked away to a foreign country for a romantic weekend.  Because that's likely to happen!
  • Get the ampersand tattoo on my back filled in.  I have a baroque design that I'm looking into that I really like.  Just have to save up the money!
  • Watch all of The Cosby Show.  (I'm on season three. Hehe!)
  • Write and perform (non-comedy) music.  It's a silly little dream I have.
  • Write a spec script.  I've had one all planned out for "Parks and Recreation."  I think it'll be a fun thing to do.
  • "Curate" my frame wall.  I have some posters that need to be framed and I want to make it more personal and interesting.  I'm tired of looking at the same thing every day.  Also, it will fulfill my secret longing that I've had to be a museum curator.
  • Buy a new record every month and start building an awesome record collection.  Including all types of music... and not just soul.  I have a lot of soul.  And I'll probably buy a lot more soul.
  • Figure out how to really use my camera and take pictures more frequently.  I want to take more black and white pictures.
  • Have a spa day.  Probably on my birthday.  Oh, man, I can't wait!
  • Stop apologizing.  I apologize for EVERYTHING.  And I have to stop.  I have a feeling a certain someone is going to be real excited about this one.
What about you?! What are you doing this new year?!

2012.

Oh, 2012.  Oh!!  You were such a good year.  There were some days in 2012 that go down in the history books as my favorite days I've ever had.  Seriously.  There were some TOP NOTCH moments in 2012.  God damn.  I wish I could go back and re-live them.  But instead, I think of them fondly and toast to them and hope for many more in 2013 and beyond.

Can you believe it's about to be 2013?  That's nuts.  The years are going by so fast.  I'll be turning 30 in three years.  OK, wow, I have to stop.  That sentence just sent chills down my spine in a bad way.  (Not that I have a problem with turning 30.  It's not my "scary" age.  But, the idea of how quickly time is going by and how much older I'm getting and how many things I have to accomplish.  My word.)

Back to 2012.  Where I was only 25 and 26.  It was really awesome.  And sometimes awful (like when my dog, Griffin, died.)  But, there were plenty of moments of total euphoria.  Seriously!  Euphoria!!  A lot of moments that made me feel awesome and special. (Remember when I hung out with Taran Killam for a weekend and did an awesome show with him?)  It's the year I was more adventurous and fun.  It's the year I dedicated my whole life to comedy and quit my safe, secure full-time job (which I loved.)  It's the year I just decided to be honest.  It's the year I dyed my hair dark brown, almost black, and have never felt better about the way I look.  I feel more confident now than ever.  It's the year I started directing amazing groups of people, including all my house team buddies but most importantly, WNBA.  The beautiful and talented ladies of WNBA.  It's the year I bought memory foam pillows which are totally amazing.

I had a great year.  And I'm hoping for, and working towards, a killer 2013.  I'm going to throw myself into some projects.  I'm going to focus more on the possibility of moving somewhere.  I'm going to read more books and play with my iPad and spend more time using my fancy shmancy camera.  I'm going to write and I'm going to stop giving a shit about what people think.

2011: The Best Year?

At the end of every year, I think “What a wonderful year I’ve had!” Even, say, two years ago when the year ended particularly horribly... I still thought, "But the rest of the year was so great!" Call me optimistic (or crazy)... but I'll say it again, this year was a FANTASTIC year. Maybe even the best.

In all honesty, the reason this year was so great was because I really, as corny as this sounds... grew into my face. No, that's not the right wording. I came into my own! I felt good about who I was and how I looked and self-concious thoughts stopped interfering with my days and making me feel inferior. I was super confident and it made me happier and I was able to focus on other things... like improv and writing. And okay, boys. I'm ending 2011 in a very good place and I'm excited for the new year and have great things ahead.

Also, there's this:

i honestly have the best friends.
ever.
Happy New Year xoxo
