Lean on Me
Is it just me, or has everyone been crazy lately? I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean, everyone seems to be having a difficult time just making it through the day. This week alone, I've had several serious talks with friends. In my world, that's weird because most of the time we're busy doing bits and not having serious conversations because we're surpressing our feelings. And it wasn't just my friends coming to me, I was going to them too! What is going on?
But I noticed a recurring theme. In almost every conversation I had, someone knocked someone else down. And it made me realize how often we, as people, blame everyone else for our problems. And not even that... but we knock other people down to make us feel better about ourselves.
This is nothing against my wonderful friends. They're all wonderful. I know for a fact that I do it too. But it put everything into perspective for me... and I'm going to try to knock other people down less. I need to take responsibility for my own shortcomings and faults and take action on my own. But, having a friend around to talk (and drink) with is always an added bonus!
I just want to be more supportive. All people really want is some support. They want to go about their days feeling like someone, somewhere has their back. That someone would maybe, I don't know, know if they died if they weren't heard from in a couple of days. (This absolutely crossed my mind when I had a concussion.) Let's show each other support, like Liz supports Tracy. Even if it is against her will most times.

Tiny Party.
Last Friday night, Kiley and I had a party at our place. It was as hot as a sauna, unfortunately. But, I think people had fun anyway. I know I did. I know Dan Clionsky definitely did. I mean, Richie got to say a few sarcastic comments and get angry about the unused air conditioner. Matt got to mug and fake-kiss Evan. Trevor got to wear a funny hat. All's well that end's well. Or something.
{ashley's pretty.}
{that's supposed to be a sexy face, matt.}
Also, funny story! Like, really funny. Around 2am, there were cops outside of my building. They were flashing a flash light through windows and around the streets and such. Naturally, we thought it was because of our noise! But, our apartment isn't found easily. There's no buzzer so if someone is coming in, we have to walk down and get them. And every building in the North End is connected, so if someone was calling to complain, it'd be hard to pinpoint the location of the noise! But we turned music off and shut the windows so it'd be less noisy.
Turns out they were looking for a rapist that had just accosted someone near our building and was most likely hiding in the alley behind our building. Awesome.

Full-Time Friend
I'm in a great mood right now! But based on the rollercoaster days I've been having, that could change any second. And I'm scared. I'm scared for my life and yours. So here's some photos of my friends and I from the weekend! We had ourselves quite a weekend. Also, I read earlier that someone considered their job a "full-time friend". I like that. A lot.
All of these pictures were stolen from Mary. Mary is the best.
{under my umbrella-ella-ella}
{marty and kelly.}
{my new lipstick matches mary's bra.}
{they're in love. and in abba.}
{brother and sister. not really.}

Jetsetting Friday
It's snowing outside. Again.
I woke up and excitedly checked my email to realize it wasn't cancelled.
But hey, at least I love my snow boots!
I'm going to pretend I'm going away!
And if I were, I'd go to Rome.
And if I were, I'd go to Rome.
I'd see all the art I've wanted to see.
I'd walk down the Via Sacra.
Most of all, I'd want to walk inside the Pantheon and then see the Mausoleum of Augustus and the Ara Pacis because I'm a nerd and I have a weird fascination with the Augustan Empire.
And that's what I'd wear while doing those things!
In other news, here are some Friday facts:
1. Last night I hung out with some friends I hadn't hung out with in a while. I was zapped right back to 2007/2008 and we had a lot of fun making fun of each other.
2. I'm bored and have no energy, so I just flirted with a delivery man to pass the time/boost my mood. Does anyone else do that? Am I whorish?
3. Last night someone yelled "RAPE" {capitol letters to emphasize the volume it was yelled at} as a suggestion at our AC show. The most surprising thing? It was a woman. Here's the thing, ladies. Rape is never a good suggestion. As a lady, it's even less of a good suggestion. It's just not funny and it's too common and terrible {trust me.} And you don't want to see us "R" each other.
4. Speaking of AC, I'm lucky to perform with them. I love them.
4. Speaking of AC, I'm lucky to perform with them. I love them.
5. My roommate's leaving again this weekend. She'll be performing on a cruise ship in like Mexico and stuff with The Second City for four months. Good for her! Bad for me! :(
Have a good weekend!

You're amazing.
when I looked up "amazing" on Google... this came up.
Recently, I was at a bar in Boston, talking to someone who consistently makes me feel like a totally worthless piece of nothing.
Then I got a text message.
And it said, "You're amazing." and it was sent from across the bar.
Then I realized that when you have people in your life that make you feel like you're a worthy piece of everything... then that's really all that's important. Other stupid people are stupid anyway!
And to the sender of that message, you're amazing! Stop leaving yourself voicemails telling yourself that you're going to hate yourself when you hear the message at work on Monday. Even though it's really, really funny.
I like my friends. For many reasons - but mainly because they don't even bat an eye when I tell them I'm hooking up with a parking meter in exchange for free parking.
Speaking of friends, Julia's come into town tonight! I haven't seen her since my birthday and I miss her very much. Hopefully we don't drink too much and die. I'm not as young as I used to be!

They were all super excited to hang out with me!
And take pictures with me!
Evidence:

Wait.. not one of them is looking at the camera...
sigh....

Mat Dann vs. Sailors
One night, after a show, we all started to leave. All of a sudden, Mat yelled, “NO” as he walked up the staircase. He immediately went back downstairs in anger. I thought, maybe, there was a cute puppy or something and he couldn’t go out and look at it because he wants one so bad. I actually have no idea what I thought.
But as I climbed the staircase to find out, I just saw a group of sailors.
Then laughed really hard. He really doesn’t like them!
My friend, Casey, took this picture outside {after forcing him to go outside}, and I think it’s perfect. I love Mat Dann.
{This is also right before I kept pushing Mat to go to the bar for a drink, and when he'd say "Well, I can't really drink in this shirt..." I'd continue to push him, thinking he was worried about looking good - but it was actually because he can't drink in his EMT shirt. I guess that makes sense...}

Cheering Up
During the day, we shopped, ate Wendy's and made fun of my love for belting. I love a belt! Is that so wrong?
Then we got dressed up and hit the town! Mad Men style! We went to the Liberty Hotel and had some {super expensive} drinks! And after that, things got less Mad Men-y. Yes, like an hour into our Mad Men night. We left the fancy bar to walk across town to an Asian karaoke place. It was closed. We walked further away to some bar called Flash’s {which I dubbed a lesbian bar, but Jeremy told me definitely wasn't. Pfft.} Kelly and I walked in and sat down alone on the same side of the table. We both ordered the “Lesbian Fizz”.
It was all fine, because our handsome gentlemen walked in after us! “Look! We’re with boys!” I wanted to shout, but instead I said to the waitress, “Has anyone ever told you that you look like a character on Mad Men?” “No, I’ve never seen it.” “Oh, well, you look like this one girl. She’s very pretty!”
We never saw her again. We immediately had a new waitress. {Who I shall call Renee, because she looked like my friend Matt Catanzano’s girlfriend. Also very pretty!}
So, it was pretty clear the waitress thought I was a lesbian. Whatever. I didn’t care, because three cocktails later I passed out at the table. I didn’t even realize I had that much to drink until Bryan and Trevor kept shoving me to wake me up. Eventually, I woke up.
And ten minutes later I was sitting in the basement of an incredibly bright Chinese restaurant, named the Peach Farm, eating scallion pancakes and lo mein at 3am.
Overrall, I woke up feeling okay {thankfully} and Trevor got a good laugh at my expense {really, who falls asleep at tables?} and I got to be a good friend while hanging out with good friends. Even if our Mad Men night wasn't so authentic.
P.s. I love Trevor.

Oysters, Friends & Franks
Last night, I met up with a few friends for oysters. It was my first time! I thought they were okay. I explained to Cavan that they tasted "like the reason you're afraid of seafood. They taste like how you think they'd taste." Slimy, salt-watery... you know. But I could deal with them. But the burger that Evan and I split with fried oysters on it was pretty delicious.
Then, we walked down to the waterfront and dangled our franks* over the edge. I couldn't stop thinking of how I would die. I'd accidentally fall to my death on the rocks below. Or land in the harbor and automatically die from poison. But, from that picture, the water looks so pretty and blue. I can assure you that in person, it does not look so pretty. But, that's why I love it. Or something.
We finished our evening with ice cream at a place in Faneuil Hall. I hate Faneuil Hall any other time, because it's always so crowded, over-priced, nobody takes cash, nobody knows how to walk. But, it was pretty empty, and ice cream is good. And so are my friends. And so is the summer. And so are bananas.
*franks, again, are freckly ankles. Look at those things!
