Hello, I Love You.

Dear dress,

I don't normally do things like this, I swear.  Sure... it can be said that I am quite the "player" when it comes to dresses.  Sometimes I go for the cheap ones just to get a fill.  And sometimes, I invest in the better quality ones when I'm looking for more than a cheap thrill.  But, you.  No, you're different.

I might have found you while perusing for just any-old-dress to do the trick, but sometimes, true love finds you when you're not expecting it.  I was struck by your beauty.  It's almost like you were made for me.  Like the two of us are just lonely puzzle pieces wandering the Earth, looking for the other.

But, unfortunately, I have to live without you.  Because, bitch, you're damn expensive!  $270, are you kidding?  Talk about high maintenance!

But, I'll wait for you.  I'll dream of you.  I'll think about you all the time, envisioning all the places we'd go together and what shoes I would wear.  There will always be a hanger with your name on it... hanging securely on my heart.

Forever yours,
Patty.

Patty: Fall Version

There's a slight crisp in the air and it's almost September.  It's time to pretend I can afford clothes shopping, bitches.  This year, I realize that I don't have a high-paying job.  But, I'll make the best of what I've got!  And the outfits I've picked are good, because I already have a lot of these things.  So, here goes.  Fall.  2012.  We ready.

for everyday wear.
need to buy: chambray dress, black ankle boots.
(those ones... way too expensive.)

this is my typical outfit from october-april.
need to buy: chiffon mint green dress, seychelles wedges.

i barely wear jeans, but i do on sundays!
need to buy: mustard cardigan, blouses.

i love mixing stripes with leopard. i have versions of both those dresses.
need to buy: striped pumps.

so, really, if I follow this... that's only seven things.  and everything else i already own!  and, let's be honest, i don't need most of these things... i have a ton of dresses that would work with this configuration.  but those wedges?  ankle boots?  STRIPED PUMPS?!  yes.

and this has been another episode of fall shopping with Patty.

Back to School Shopping.

I was flipping through a fashion magazine the other evening while watching The Hunger Games at my friends' apartment.  (I'm very social.)  And it got me really excited for the fall.  I love clothes.  You should see my closet.  It's throwing up all over my room right now!  But, fashion excites me. Back to school shopping was always my favorite part of going back to school.  And maybe seeing my friends.  And learning more about Nazi Germany.

New seasons have this tendency to make everything feel new and exciting and makes me want to change or set myself on fire.  If I were going back to school (which I'm definitely not), here are some things that would be on my radar.  (I'm probably going to buy them anyway.)  (I need a job.)

black and white contrast trench. forever 21.

blueberry dress. i love the sleeves and collar. modcloth.

chambray shirt dress. modcloth.

the most perfect boots. anthropologie.

leopard loafers. steve madden. i bought these.

a big infinity scarf.

 sweater boobs. modcloth.

and a pair of really awesome t-strap heels. modcloth.

Birthday Dress.

My favorite tradition that Myself and I have is buying a new dress for my birthday. I also started this new tradition last year of getting a tattoo on my birthday that I also enjoy. But, birthday dresses are so fun! Everyone should treat themselves on their birthday! Even if you're turning an age that doesn't matter. And even though you probably won't even have time to go out and celebrate. It's just a nice little thing to do for yourself, I say!

The criteria for a birthday dress should be "fun" "festive" and "you". I also say that! It should also be bought within your birthday month. And not two months before... so, I guess I have two months to wait. : )

we all know i love a dot!
i'd feel very Patty in this.
although it's a little too "sexyish". that's not very me!

this is also very me. green's my favorite color!
and it's festive and fun.

dots! greenish! a winning combo.
and the bow would make me feel like fozzie bear.

you can't beat red! and birds.
i'm a bird. those sleeves though? not my style.

i like the silhouette and the fun colors of this one.

i'm... the worst.

Spring.

Right now, the thought of wearing bear legs
and no tights is keeping me going.
i want to wear all those outfits... from ModCloth.

spring means...
my birthday (a little over two months away!)
NO TIGHTS.
sleeping with the window open.
wedges!
drinking on patios (not that i really ever do that... but it sounds nice.)
walks on the waterfront without freezing to death.
late sunlight.
a lot of kissing. (i can't prove this to be true, but again, sounds nice.)
waking up to take a shower and not wanting to die because it's so cold.
staying out late and it's ok because it's warm-ish.
eating lunch on the porch with mary.
mat dann's limoncello.
wearing only ONE jacket and not TWO. (i wear two jackets a lot.)
bright colored nails. tons of pedicures.
SUMMER FRIDAYS (technically, that's summer.)
summery beers.
blue vanilla richie's slush.
and most importantly, having fun with my friends.

New Year's Beav

i... LOVE... new year's eve.

i love everything about it!
i love dressing up in a ridiculous sparkly outfit.
i love wearing too much make-up.
i love wasting time curling my hair knowing it won't stay.
i love drinking champagne {and way too much vodka.}
i love counting down to midnight and screaming.
i love kissing everyone at midnight.
i love having fun with my friends in an apartment filled with only my friends.

if i were the richest woman in the world, that's what i'd wear. that dress costs over $1,000. jesus. but i have my own sparkly disco ball dress that i'm going to wear. my dearest friend Cavbot is throwing a "New Year's Beav" party. i have shows beforehand then i'll be there! ringing in the new year with the best people!

i'm a little excited!

Holiday Dressing.

Since the holidays are coming up (I've already watched "Elf" once and listened to "A Very She and Him Christmas" a dozen times), I've been thinking a lot of what to wear. I'm a sucker for holiday dressing. Give me a party to go to, and I will dress the part! My work has a holiday party, and the past two years I've come up with a theme. It's the most fun I've ever had... in my life. (I'm NOT kidding. I hate ALL of my friends and my IMPROV SHOWS.)

So, here are some dresses I've found in all of my perusing. They're all under $100. At the very least, Casey will benefit from this. He loves dressing up for holiday parties. {He's also the only person who reads my blog. Hi Casey!}

fossil, $88.

fossil, $88.

{i have a bit of a thing for emerald.}

{because who doesn't want to look like liza minelli?}

Style Muse: Cher Horowitz

Clueless. One of my favorite movies of all time! And it always will be. Just like nearly every other girl in her early (mid) twenties. It was the first movie I saw when I was younger that left a lasting sartorial impression on me. I was obsessed with that movie. I think I even saw it several times, bought the soundtrack and then ran out to my local Tello's to get whatever I could find to dress like Cher. And I still see things in stores and think "Cher!"

Once, I bought (or, my mom did) a sheer white blouse and I wanted to wear it for picture day at school. I believe I also paired it with a plaid skirt. I went downstairs for breakfast and my dad freaked out. Or as Cher would say, he went totally balistic. It was the first, and probably the last, time he ever got involved in whether my fashion choices made me look smart or slutty. And I think it's also the last time he threw a chair across a room angrily. Man, fun times.

But, the good news is, the 90's are now vintage. The style is coming back and it's cool again. I once heard that if you were alive to wear it the first time, you shouldn't wear it again. Dumb! I love pretending I'm from the 60's on a constant basis - but sometimes a plaid shirt, skinny jeans and Doc Martens feel like the most perfect outfit in the world.

Also, I'm really excited for berets. I won't wear them. But I'm glad they're here. And knee high socks. And back packs. Here is my updated for 2011 Cher Horowitz look. All of these things were cool in the 90's, went away for a while and now... they're back! Thank God. Now let's all go play suck and blow!

Back to School

Today I decided I was going to pretend I was going back to school and put together a back-to-school outfit - because that was like the best part of going back to school, right?

Wrong. I wore oversized sweatshirts and sweatpants with platform Volatile sneakers all the time.

So, now that I'm a classy grown-up {also wrong}, I put together a nice outfit with oxfords and fall colors and a black and brown color combination. I might look like I'm from the '70's, but I'm okay with that. I also tried to take a picture, but after several failed attempts, I gave up and had to go to work.

Here's the latest ModCloth style book that has a very back-to-school flavor. And includes styles I can't wait to wear in the fall! It also, for some reason, makes me nostalgic for 2007 when Seriously Bent was going to Chicago.

{polka dot tights, high-waisted shorts, oxford heels}

{colorful pencil skirts paired with polka dots and patterned jackets}

{yellow and navy, peter pan collars, bright lipstick}

{oxfords, ankle boots, scalloped shorts, colored tights, that neckline!}

This is a Man's World

I have a weird style. I go between menswear and really feminine dresses. Sometimes I combine the two. So, naturally, I love the tumblr Wearing the Pants. I don't go total menswear... I literally own zero pairs of pants... ZERO. I own a pair of jeans (one pair) and that's it. But, here are some of my favorite styles. I'd swap a lot of the pants with jeans or a high-waisted skirt. But that's just ME! Patty. That's me.

Fall Patty 2011.

Last year I did a post of three outfits I'd wear for fall.
I pretty much wore similar outfits to those,
and I'd still wear them now!
But my style has changed a little bit.
And I love shopping, even if it's faux.
Here are three fall looks I want!

{those shoes are ridiculous. i want them. kind've. yes.}

{that's two outfits. but whatever. same concept.}

{because all i want is to be joan harris.}
